Sculptor Zoe Paul

Zoe graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2009 and is currently completing her Masters at the Royal College of Art. She grew up in Greece and its classical sculpture is an inspiration for the ancient artifact concepts she currently explores. Her sculptures are formed from modern household materials - The dark pyramid-encrusted piece in these photos is black tiling grout.
This little windowless room behind a pub in South London has been Zoe's workspace for the past couple of years. Due to the restricted ceiling height its days as her studio are numbered.

Sculptor Jane Ackroyd

Jane has worked from this West London studio for 27 years. Her favoured material is steel: cut, twisted and welded to form distinctive semi-skeletal forms. The assembled pieces are finished with a rubbing of beeswax under flame. This creates a smooth, dark surface polish.

Jane had mentioned the ivy wall on the phone prior to the shoot, but it still put a great big smile on my photographer face to see it

The bronze and photographic portraits shown in these photos are of Jane's grandparents and great grandparents. The desert scene was photographed by her father, a writer who lived with the Berbers for four years.
